On a Mac, Alt codes are not used in the same way as on Windows. Instead, you can use the following methods to type special characters:

Option Key: Many special characters can be typed using the
Optionkey. For example:- Copyright symbol (©):
Option+G - Registered trademark symbol (®):
Option+R - Tilde (˜):
Option+N, then press the spacebar.

Emoji & Symbols Viewer:
- Press
Control+Command+Spaceto open the Emoji & Symbols viewer. - You can search for the symbol you need and insert it directly.

System Preferences>Keyboard. - Check the box for "Show keyboard and emoji viewers in menu bar."
- Click the input menu in the menu bar and select "Show Emoji & Symbols" to access a wider range of characters.
