To install an Ubuntu VM, follow these general steps:
Using VirtualBox

Download VirtualBox:
- Go to the VirtualBox website and download the installer for your operating system.

Download Ubuntu ISO:
- Visit the Ubuntu website and download the latest Ubuntu ISO file.

Install VirtualBox:
- Run the installer you downloaded and follow the on-screen instructions to install VirtualBox.

Create a New VM:
- Open VirtualBox and click on "New".
- Name your VM (e.g., "Ubuntu") and select "Linux" as the type and "Ubuntu (64-bit)" as the version.
- Allocate memory (RAM) for the VM (at least 2 GB recommended).

Create a Virtual Hard Disk:
- Choose "Create a virtual hard disk now" and click "Create".
- Select the hard disk file type (VDI is recommended) and click "Next".
- Choose "Dynamically allocated" and click "Next".
- Set the size of the virtual hard disk (at least 20 GB recommended) and click "Create".

Configure VM Settings:
- Select your VM and click on "Settings".
- Go to the "Storage" section, click on the empty CD icon, and then click on the CD icon on the right to choose the Ubuntu ISO you downloaded.

Start the VM:
- Click "Start" to boot the VM. It will load the Ubuntu installer from the ISO.

Install Ubuntu:
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install Ubuntu. You can choose to install it alongside other operating systems or erase the disk for a fresh installation.

- Once the installation is complete, restart the VM and remove the installation media when prompted.
