RHCSA Prep (EX200) is a beginner-friendly path for building practical Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration skills. Across 32 guided labs, you progress from terminal orientation and file work to identities, software, services, networking, storage, SELinux, and integrated system repair.
The course teaches normal administrative workflows before troubleshooting them. Every lab runs in a fresh RHEL 10 virtual machine, explains why each command matters, and asks you to inspect the resulting state. The final two labs reduce the scaffolding and combine several domains so you can transition toward challenge-based practice exams.
What You Will Learn
- Navigate the shell, use local documentation, process text, and manage files, links, archives, ownership, and permissions
- Create users and groups, enforce account aging, delegate least-privilege sudo, and configure SSH keys and secure transfers
- Work with DNF and RPM, manage systemd services and targets, inspect persistent journals, tune processes, and schedule jobs
- Write simple Bash administration scripts with arguments, tests, loops, exit codes, and logging
- Configure isolated NetworkManager profiles, host resolution, time synchronization, service startup, and precise firewalld rules
- Create partitions and file systems, persist mounts, build and extend LVM, configure swap and automounts, and diagnose failures
- Manage SELinux modes, file contexts, booleans, and port labels, then validate a multi-domain RHEL host
Who This Course Is For
This course is for new or early-career Linux administrators, technical support staff, and RHCSA candidates who want guided practice before attempting exam-style challenges. No prior RHCSA-specific training is assumed.
Prerequisites: Basic computer use, comfort typing commands at a terminal prompt, and willingness to read command output. Prior Linux administration experience is helpful but not required.
Learning environment: Thirty-two independent, browser-accessible RHEL 10 virtual machines. Local documentation, repositories, services, users, keys, network interfaces, disks, and other practice assets are prepared per lab, so exercises remain repeatable and do not depend on your own infrastructure.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this an official Red Hat course or certification exam?
No. It is an independent LabEx learning resource aligned with current RHCSA-style administration areas. Completing it does not issue a Red Hat certification or guarantee an exam result.
Are the labs guided, and do they become more difficult?
Yes. The labs explain commands and verification steps, beginning with low-risk shell and file work. Later labs combine systemd, storage, networking, firewalld, and SELinux with less scaffolding, especially in the two integrated reviews.
Should I take this course before the RHCSA practice exams?
That is the intended progression for beginners. After the 32 guided labs, use the standalone practice exams to test whether you can complete similar administrative outcomes without step-by-step instructions.
Could storage, networking, SSH, or firewall exercises affect my own computer or remote access?
No. They run in isolated training VMs with staged disks, dummy or local network paths, temporary accounts, and scoped services. Instructions identify the practice resources and protect the LabEx connection path.
