RHCSA Practice Exam 02 is a standalone, hands-on assessment of essential RHEL administration. Its 16 independent tasks cover shell tools and scripts, software and runtime management, local storage, networking and services, accounts, and security. The recommended duration is 180 minutes, using a 100-point model with a simulated LabEx passing score of 70.
Each task opens in a fresh RHEL 10 virtual machine and gives you an operational request plus measurable acceptance criteria rather than a guided solution. You diagnose the staged state, implement a focused repair or configuration, and verify both immediate behavior and persistent system state.
What You Will Learn
- Recover a configuration workspace, preserve links and permissions, and generate repeatable log summaries with a Bash loop
- Repair local DNF and Flatpak management, restore systemd defaults, apply a tuned profile, and adjust a running process priority
- Build a safe cleanup script and persistent systemd timer while retaining recent files and audit logs
- Create persistent ext4 and VFAT mounts, repair a broken fstab entry without losing data, and expand an XFS logical volume
- Restore an isolated NetworkManager path and expose only a required custom TCP port through firewalld
- Repair account shells, lock and expiration policies, shared group access, default ACLs, and narrowly scoped sudo delegation
- Diagnose an SELinux port-label denial and restore user-scoped, key-based SSH access without weakening global controls
Who This Course Is For
This course is designed for junior RHEL administrators, Linux support or operations professionals, and RHCSA candidates who want a second complete practice form without step-by-step assistance. It can be taken before or after Practice Exam 01 because neither exam depends on the other.
Prerequisites: Confident use of the Linux shell, files and permissions, Bash basics, packages, systemd, users and groups, networking, storage, SSH, sudo, and SELinux. Familiarity with LVM, XFS, ext4, VFAT, NetworkManager, firewalld, Flatpak, and tuned is recommended.
Learning environment: Sixteen isolated, browser-accessible RHEL 10 virtual machines. Baseline files, local repositories, services, processes, block devices, LVM capacity, network profiles, user accounts, keys, logs, and web endpoints are staged inside each task; no task carries state into another.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this an official RHCSA exam or a continuation of Practice Exam 01?
No. It is an independent LabEx learning resource and a standalone exam form. The 180-minute limit, 100-point score, and passing score of 70 are simulated and do not award an official certification.
Do the tasks include guided solutions?
No. Each task supplies a request, a constrained scope, and acceptance criteria, then automatically checks the final machine state. You decide which commands to use and how to confirm the result.
Do package, Flatpak, network, or SSH tasks require external services?
No. Software sources, application endpoints, interfaces, accounts, and SSH keys are prepared locally in the task VM. No external subscription, server, or network account is required.
Can the storage, firewall, SELinux, or SSH tasks disrupt my own system or LabEx access?
They operate only inside disposable training VMs with dedicated devices and scoped services. The tasks explicitly preserve existing data, avoid the primary LabEx connection, keep SELinux Enforcing, and limit firewall or SSH changes to the requested path or user.
