RHCE in Enterprise Linux Practice Exam 02 is a second, independent advanced assessment of RHEL troubleshooting. Its 14 incidents use different failure scenarios from Practice Exam 01 across evidence collection, boot and kernel state, storage, packages, networking, applications, SELinux containers, identity, and SystemTap. The recommended duration is 240 minutes, with a 100-point integrated model and a simulated LabEx passing threshold of 70 points.
In each fresh RHEL 10 VM, you work from an incident brief and measurable final-state requirements. You must inspect symptoms and evidence, preserve required data, repair the smallest relevant configuration boundary, and verify runtime health and persistence without a guided command sequence.
What You Will Learn
- Build structured support bundles and combine persistent journald data with an Ansible-based diagnostic collection
- Repair emergency-mode mount state and restore persistent boot arguments and kernel-module behavior
- Recover an ext4 logical volume and a LUKS mapping, and restore persistent iSCSI storage after a capacity incident
- Repair blocked DNF transactions and verify restored RPM payload integrity
- Correct NetworkManager routes and resolve conflicts between service binding and runtime or permanent firewalld rules
- Use coredump evidence to restore a crashing application and repair SELinux-constrained Podman volume access
- Correct local identity and login state and author a narrow, automatically terminating SystemTap diagnostic probe
Who This Course Is For
This course is for experienced RHEL administrators and Linux support engineers who want another demanding incident set or a deeper test of evidence-driven troubleshooting. It is intended for learners already comfortable repairing live enterprise Linux services and persistent configuration.
Prerequisites: Strong RHEL administration skills across systemd, boot and kernel settings, DNF/RPM, NetworkManager, firewalld, LVM, ext4, LUKS, iSCSI, SELinux, Podman, accounts, journald, coredump tools, and shell evidence collection. RHCSA-level knowledge and substantial troubleshooting experience are recommended.
Learning environment: Fourteen isolated browser-accessible RHEL 10 VMs with locally prepared failure states. Disk images, logical volumes, encrypted mappings, iSCSI targets, network namespaces and routes, services, containers, users, logs, and diagnostic tooling are staged inside each relevant VM; no production hosts or external storage are used.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Practice Exam 02 a continuation of Practice Exam 01?
No. It is an independent full practice form with different incidents. You can take either first, and service, storage, network, evidence, and configuration state are never shared.
Is this an official RHCE exam?
No. It is an independent LabEx troubleshooting resource. The 240-minute recommendation, 100-point model, and 70-point threshold are simulated and do not produce an official Red Hat certification result.
Will emergency-mode and boot tasks require rebooting the VM?
No. The course provides controlled persistent faults that you repair and validate through current mount state, findmnt, systemd targets, kernel arguments, and a safely loaded training module. A reboot is not required.
Is the SystemTap task safe and bounded?
Yes. You create a narrow startup probe with an automatic exit path, a short timeout, and a small fixed evidence output. Broad wildcard tracing and open-ended production observation are outside the task.
