Undo a Bad Website Update

Restore event sign-ups with a focused Git correction while keeping newer pages, published history and existing bookings.

ProjectGit

Introduction

Undo a Bad Website Update is a practical Git project for learners who know basic commits and branches. Repair a workshop booking site after an older update blocks registration, without losing a newer event or existing reservations.

One Guided Lab establishes a normal booking, traces the faulty change and publishes a focused correction. One independently initialized Challenge changes the faulty setting and adds two later useful commits. Both end with a real reservation and downloadable ticket. The total 80 minutes is an author estimate.

What You Will Learn

  • Read commit patches and select an older change through a fixed revision bookmark.
  • Use git revert to add a correction while preserving published history and later work.
  • Recognize the expected already-applied result and inspect the log and working state.
  • Push the correction, retain complete event pages and existing bookings, and verify a real ticket.

Who This Course Is For

This course is for beginning Git users ready to repair a shared project.

Prerequisites: Basic terminal navigation, commits, branches and a simple log/diff. Merge a Team’s Changes is recommended first.

Learning environment: Each unit provides prepared Workspace and Event Desk tabs in your browser. The real Git repositories and HTTP site run on one training machine with synthetic events and identities. Site labels and command output remain English.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to install software or use a hosted account?

No. Each unit has its own ready-to-use environment and local shared repository.

Do I need to write website code?

No. The site and event files are prepared. You inspect history, correct the event setting and test booking.

Does reverting restore the booking database?

No. Bookings are outside Git. Preserve them while correcting the versioned event; this course does not teach database rollback or hosted deployment pipelines.

How does the Challenge extend the Guided Lab?

It uses a different faulty setting and two later good commits. Choose the correction from evidence using the same tools, then deliver a new reservation and ticket.
