Introduction

This beginner project puts you in charge of a small shop search that can return an unlisted prototype. One Guided Lab traces real requests and repairs a small Python function; one Challenge applies the same method to order references.

What You Will Learn

  • Follow a normal search from the page to SQLite.
  • Recognize input changing SQL structure.
  • Bind a value with a placeholder and a one-item tuple.
  • Preserve exact matching, legitimate apostrophes, and business restrictions.
  • Test security alongside useful results.

Who This Course Is For

This course is for beginners curious about web security and application repair. You should be able to enter terminal commands and switch tabs. No prior SQL or Python course is required; the relevant syntax and editor controls are taught before use. Workstation, App Server, and Shop Web are prepared in your browser with synthetic shop data.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I edit code?

Yes. You will make a small explained edit to an existing Python query function. You do not build an application from scratch.

Do I need to install anything?

No. The browser environment includes the app, database, terminal editor, and request client.

How does the Challenge differ?

You protect a different business object and preserve its ready-order rule using the same database API. Checks examine actual results and extra isolated fixtures; no report is required.
