How to enable bidirectional clipboard sharing?

To enable bidirectional clipboard sharing, follow these general steps based on the virtualization software you are using:

For VirtualBox:

  1. Open VirtualBox and select your virtual machine.
  2. Click on Settings.
  3. Go to the General tab and then the Advanced tab.
  4. Find the Shared Clipboard option and set it to Bidirectional.
  5. Click OK to save the changes.

For VMware:

  1. Open VMware Workstation or VMware Player and select your virtual machine.
  2. Click on Edit virtual machine settings.
  3. Go to the Options tab.
  4. Select Guest Isolation.
  5. Check the boxes for Enable drag and drop and Enable copy and paste.
  6. Click OK to apply the changes.

For Parallels Desktop:

  1. Open Parallels Desktop and select your virtual machine.
  2. Go to the Configuration settings.
  3. Click on the Options tab.
  4. Select Sharing.
  5. Ensure that Share Mac clipboard with Windows (or the respective guest OS) is enabled.

General Notes:

  • Ensure that the guest additions or tools (like VirtualBox Guest Additions or VMware Tools) are installed in the guest OS for clipboard sharing to work properly.
  • Restart the virtual machine if necessary after making these changes.

After enabling bidirectional clipboard sharing, you should be able to copy and paste between the host and guest systems seamlessly.
