Reviewing Network Changes After a Server Update is a practical Nmap project about deciding whether an update matches its approved network change plan. Compare a real baseline with current services, confirm that the moved business still delivers every original record, and distinguish allowed changes from handover blockers.
One Guided Lab teaches comparable scanning, Ndiff interpretation, business confirmation and a complete change review. One independent Challenge moves bookings to a lower port and includes an approved new service, so a new opening is not automatically a fault. Each unit starts with its own prepared environment.
What You Will Learn
- Collect completed Nmap XML for the same target, protocol and entire permitted port set.
- Read Ndiff changes and distinguish no difference, a real difference and an execution error.
- Connect an old/new port pair to an approved business migration.
- Confirm the complete original business response rather than trusting a title or an open port alone.
- Review unchanged services, approved additions, unexpected openings and lost required services while preserving the original scene.
Who This Course Is For
This course is for Nmap beginners and junior network or support learners who want to review a small server update carefully.
Prerequisites: Basic terminal input and paths. Finding the Live Workshop Service is useful preparation; the necessary Nmap, Ndiff, HTTP and shell concepts are explained. No Python programming, CI system or server-administration experience is needed.
Learning environment: A prepared Ubuntu terminal with Nmap, Ndiff, baseline evidence and real local HTTP services in one training container. All business data is synthetic. The baseline is training evidence, not a claim about a production server's history.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to install software on my computer?
No. LabEx provides the tools and the independent service scene for each unit.
Does Ndiff status 1 mean the update failed?
No. It means differences were found. The change plan and actual business determine whether those differences are acceptable.
Will I write an automatic comparison program or repair the server?
No. You use Nmap, Ndiff and a prepared business sample, then write a small review. Preserve the scene for its owner instead of repairing it during the audit.
Can I finish the project when the review finds a problem?
Yes. Completion means accurate evidence and a complete review. It is valid to identify a handover blocker while recognizing approved changes that worked.
