Build practical Kubernetes judgment through 30 independent challenges curated from CKA, CKAD, and CKS practice-exam tasks. Six five-challenge stages move from application workloads and runtime operations into cluster administration, networking, storage, troubleshooting, and security.
This is an intermediate, problem-led course rather than a guided introduction. Each challenge presents a prepared cluster state, a target outcome, acceptance criteria, and hints; you inspect the evidence, choose commands or manifest changes, and verify the resulting state.
What You Will Learn
By completing this course, you will be able to:
- Build local container images and operate Deployments, Services, CronJobs, init containers, and sidecars.
- Inject ConfigMaps and Secrets, configure health probes, manage rolling updates, and apply resource controls.
- Diagnose CrashLoopBackOff and scheduling failures using workload status, events, logs, taints, and tolerations.
- Provision and repair persistent storage, perform safe node maintenance, configure RBAC, and create an etcd snapshot.
- Restore Service, Ingress, NetworkPolicy, and CoreDNS behavior by tracing traffic and configuration faults.
- Recover failed rollouts, image pulls, static Pods, resource pressure, and metrics-based scaling signals.
- Apply least-privilege access, ServiceAccount token controls, network isolation, and Restricted Pod Security settings.
- Harden a container build, keep sensitive or build-only files out of the image, and validate each requested end state.
Who This Course Is For
This course is for Kubernetes users who know the core objects and want repeated, certification-style practice across application development, administration, troubleshooting, and security. It is especially useful when you can follow a guided lab but need more experience deciding what to inspect and change without a prescribed command sequence.
Prerequisites: You should be comfortable using kubectl, reading and editing YAML manifests, and working with Pods, Deployments, Services, namespaces, and basic container images. Linux command-line skills are expected; prior exposure to storage, networking, RBAC, and cluster components will help with the later challenges.
Learning environment: All 30 challenges run in provided Ubuntu 22.04 terminal environments with prepared local minikube clusters. The CKAD and CKA tasks use one local profile and the CKS tasks use a security-focused profile. No external Kubernetes cluster, cloud account, container registry, or billable resource is required.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this course suitable for a complete Kubernetes beginner?
No. It is labeled Intermediate and assumes you can already inspect resources and edit manifests. If Pods, Deployments, Services, namespaces, and kubectl are new to you, complete a guided Kubernetes fundamentals course first.
Is this a complete CKA, CKAD, or CKS mock exam?
No. The 30 challenges are selected from practice-exam task sets and intentionally mix CKAD application work, CKA administration and troubleshooting, and CKS security. They provide broad hands-on practice but do not reproduce one certification’s full exam blueprint or timing.
Must I complete one challenge every day or follow the exact order?
No. “30 Days” provides a convenient practice cadence, while the course itself is non-sequential and each challenge has an independent environment. The six-stage order is still useful because it progresses from application tasks toward deeper cluster and security work.
Will these challenges change a real cluster or create cloud costs?
No. You work only with prepared local minikube profiles inside the LabEx environment. Tasks such as node drain, etcd backup, DNS repair, and Pod Security enforcement affect the disposable training cluster, not an external production system.
