Omarchy Keyboard Shortcuts: 20 Essentials for Daily Use
A task-based guide to 20 Omarchy shortcuts for launching apps, moving between windows, controlling the desktop, and finding the rest of the keybindings.

The first useful Omarchy shortcut is Super + K: it opens the live keybinding list. Keep that nearby while learning the smaller set below. Omarchy has many bindings, but a day of opening apps, moving between windows, and changing a system setting does not require memorizing all of them.
The 20 selections here come from the official Omarchy hotkeys manual checked on September 29, 2026. Super is the Windows key on most PC keyboards. Your own keybinding overrides can change these defaults, so the on-machine list is the final check.
Open what you need
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
Super + K |
Show the main Omarchy keybindings |
Super + Space |
Open the Omarchy menu |
Super + Alt + Space |
Open the apps menu |
Super + Return |
Open a terminal |
Super + Shift + Return |
Open a browser |
Super + Shift + F |
Open the file manager |
The menu is a good starting point when you have not learned an app’s direct shortcut. The navigation guide suggests a simple first exercise: open a terminal, then a browser, and watch Hyprland tile them together. From there, the window controls below become immediately useful.
Move through windows and workspaces
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
Super + Arrow |
Focus a window in that direction |
Super + Shift + Arrow |
Swap the active window in that direction |
Super + 1 through Super + 4 |
Jump to a numbered workspace |
Super + Shift + 1 through 4 |
Move the active window to a workspace |
Super + Tab |
Go to the next workspace |
Alt + Tab |
Cycle windows on the active workspace |
Super + T |
Toggle the window between tiled and floating |
Super + F |
Make the active window full-screen |
Super + W |
Close the active window |
Here is a short sequence worth practicing. Open a terminal and browser, press Super + Arrow to focus the other window, then Super + Shift + Arrow to swap their positions. Move the browser to workspace 2 with Super + Shift + 2, and follow it with Super + 2. This gives the workspace number a job rather than making it another key to memorize.
Super + W closes the focused window, so check focus before using it. The hotkeys reference also lists scratchpad, grouping, and resize commands when those become relevant; they are not prerequisites for everyday navigation.
Reach system controls without hunting for an icon
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
Super + Ctrl + A |
Open the audio panel |
Super + Ctrl + W |
Open the Wi-Fi/network panel |
Super + Ctrl + D |
Open the display panel |
Super + Shift + Space |
Show or hide the top bar |
Super + Ctrl + L |
Lock the computer |
Those five complete the set of 20. The audio, network, and display panels are the same controls reached from the Omarchy top bar. Panels accept keyboard navigation: arrows move between choices, Return activates, Tab moves to a neighboring panel, and Escape closes. Hiding the bar with Super + Shift + Space leaves those panel hotkeys working.
If a shortcut does not match your setup
Open Super + K and search for the action there. Omarchy’s dotfiles manual places personal bindings and overrides in ~/.config/hypr/bindings.lua; the Omarchy menu exposes them through Setup → Keybindings. Edits made through the menu also handle the necessary restart after you leave the editor.
Keep changes in your user configuration rather than editing files in /usr/share/omarchy, which belong to the installed package and can be replaced by updates. If you use Tmux as well, Super + Alt + K opens its separate binding list; it should not be confused with the desktop list opened by Super + K.
