# Introduction In this lab, we will learn how to use the `DataFrame.first()` method in Pandas. The `DataFrame.first()` method selects the initial periods of time series data based on a date offset. This can be useful when working with a DataFrame that has dates as the index and you want to select the first few rows based on a specific date offset. ## VM Tips After the VM startup is done, click the top left corner to switch to the **Notebook** tab to access Jupyter Notebook for practice. Sometimes, you may need to wait a few seconds for Jupyter Notebook to finish loading. The validation of operations cannot be automated because of limitations in Jupyter Notebook.
