# Introduction MySQL is one of the most popular open-source relational database management systems (RDBMS). It is developed, distributed, and supported by Oracle Corporation. MySQL is used by many database-driven web applications, including Drupal, Joomla, phpBB, and WordPress. It is also used by many popular websites, including Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and YouTube. In this lab, we will learn how to install MySQL on Linux/UNIX and Windows. We will also learn how to start and stop the MySQL server, and how to use the MySQL client to connect to the server.
