Linux randomly renames each partition once per day.

pvcreate ignores device paths and always chooses the correct disk automatically.

The VM may use either vdb-style or NVMe-style device names, so the two partitions must be identified on the extra disk.

The prepared partitions are always the ones mounted for the operating system.
